Appendix Ⅵ Land Targets

This appendix provides information on land-based target systems. These systems are usually produced in very small numbers, and their use is mainly restricted to the world's major powers. The United States and other worldwide armed forces use a variety of targets and a growing number of ground-based decoy systems as part of their training procedures. These targets vary from relatively low-technology static targets that are sometimes equipped with thermal signature generators to more complex teleoperated unmanned ground vehicles that provide a more sophisticated threat simulation. Realistic decoys can be constructed in a variety of forms: Inflatable Decoys. Can be assembled in an hour or so by a few people with a blower kit.
