摘要

The Canadian Defence Staff is considering unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) for its forces deployed overseas. The U.S. Joint Program Office has shown some interest in the Canadian robotic vehicle. Initially, a vehicle known as JINGOSS was developed for the Canadian United Nations contingent in Somalia for the metallic mine countermeasures mission. However, the vehicle itself could not be considered a solution to the Canadians' Yugoslav needs, due to the presence in this theater of so many nonmetallic mines and so much buried metal debris. The JINGOSS is an eight-wheeled, skid-steer, all-terrain vehicle that uses modular Ancaeus remote-control software. With this system, the vehicle can be remotely controlled or preprogrammed. In the control mode, the JINGOSS has a range of 3 miles. Upgraded sensors are being installed on two of the three JINGOSS vehicles built for service in Africa.
