Southampton's MAVIS to Swarm for Science

The U.K.'s University of Southampton is developing new unmanned aircraft that could be released by a balloon and then swarm to collect data for atmospheric scientists. Conventional observing platforms make it difficult to obtain in-situ data from remote or hostile environments and high altitudes, the university says, but a swarm of small aircraft could help.
