A Very Special Doug Faires Lifetime Achievement Award for 2021

As you may know, several years ago COMAP instituted the Doug Faires Award. The purpose of this award is to recognize individuals who either by their many years of service or in one special year made outstanding contributions to mathematics education in the spirit of Doug Faires. He was a dedicated teacher who deeply believed in the power of mathematical modeling to motivate students at all levels and to lead them on a path to life-long learning. This year we present the Lifetime Achievement Award to a very special man, a true inspirational leader and giant in the field of mathematical education and mathematical modeling: BrigGen(ret) Frank Giordano.
