Crossrail delay triggers cut fears

Crossrail has delayed awarding the two main tunnelling contracts by at least half a year, sparking fears of drastic changes in the project scope. The contracts were to be awarded in mid 2010 but T&TI has learnt they will not be awarded until next year, after the government's Comprehensive Spending Review in late October. A Crossrail spokesman said the delay would not postpone the start of tunnelling works.
