Breaking ground on Waterview Connection

Excavation work for the first of the Waterview Connection's two 2.4km-long motorway tunnels beneath Auckland is on-track to begin next year, with last month's ceremonial ground breaking for a 30m deep trench needed for the construction of the project's tunnels, the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) revealed. The trench will be used to assemble the 85m long TBM before beginning work excavation of the tunnels next year.
