Electrical fit-out problems have pushed back the opening of the USD 4.8bn Brisbane Airport Link tunnel to August 2012. The two-month delay to Australia's largest infrastructure project will cost contractor Thiess John Holland (TJH) USD 60M. The 6.7km tunnel was expected to open by 30 June. TJH now faces rolling penalties of USD 1.2M a day until the project is completed. TJH parent company Leighton Holdings has named 20 August as the likely opening date.
