SANDVIK LAUNCHES MEW DRILL RIG AMD ROCK DRILLS

Sandvik has launched its DT1132i drill rig and RD535 rock drill, intended for tunnelling operations, and also its RDX5 rock drill for face and long hole drilling, as well as rock bolting. Sandvik stated that the main benefits and upgrades made to the new RDX5 model compared to the previous HLX5 are: 1. 50% longer recommended service interval for reduced rock drill service costs and increase machine utilisation 2. Design improvements to reduce wear and extend component life 3. Further strengthened flushing head, gear housing and body cylinder for longer life 4. Improved percussion package with new piston design 5. Higher productivity due to lesser need for maintenance and service The RD535 improvements against the RD525 are: 1. New percussion mechanism designed for high frequency 2. Higher output/input power for up to 30% higher penetration rate 3. New body structure for further to improve oil flow inside the rock drill 4. A stabiliser ensures good bit-rock contact at all times and increases reliability and lowers tool consumption by lowering stress on the rock drill and tools 5. Up to 20% less energy needed for same penetration rate
