Geo-monitoring performed during the construction of the Valik highway tunnels

Geo-monitoring, using technologies based on NATM (New Austrian Tunnelling Method), has become an integral part of tunnel construction. The safe and economic construction of these structures requires complex and systematic monitoring carried out by an independent company, which is able to provide all the participating parties with immediate data relevant to the various decision-making processes involved. The increase in the technical sophistication of geo-monitoring is due to the rapid development of computer technology, which is increasingly being employed in all branches of underground construction. As far as geo-monitoring is concerned, recent developments include the automated monitoring and evaluation of decisive parameters and the exploitation of geo-monitoring information systems.
