EURO Ⅳ IT'S DECISION TIME

Over the past 13 years PSV and HGV vehicle engine emission standards have been determined by the 'Euro' engine standard. In 12 months time the road passenger transport and road haulage industries will face a tough decision with the implementation of the 4th Euro emission standard for new vehicles which, for the first time in the history of the Euro standards, will provide two very different engine operating solutions. This document details the technical solutions which are required by engine manufacturers to reach the exacting Euro Ⅳ standards. The rationale behind each of the technologies are explained and their pros and cons are summarised.
