Transport in Zambia

The author has spent 46 years gaining varied experience in the Road Transport Industry, both in bulk transport and smalls, interspersed with periods of allied activities, such as Shipping, Forwarding, Air Freight, Expediting and Materials Control He did his training in his fathers company and of course doing the requisite 2 years in the Royal Artillery, leaving in 1963 to work for various well known UK companies such as Convoy and Federated Road Transport. In 1967 he packed his bags and along with wife and two children went to work for United Transport Overseas Services in Zambia. He had no idea of the living conditions and was hoping he would not finish living up in a grass hut when he arrived.
