'Sightings' down in early 2009

Venturing out after a Christmas spent in semi-hibernation, the first real evidence we get that the new calendar year has arrived is usually in the form of shiny licence plates displayed by proud new car owners. For me, the 'first sighting' of the earliest licence plate happens usually by the first days of the New Year and within five minutes of leaving my home. At the time of writing we are well into the second week of 2009 and as yet, I have had no sighting of a 2009 registered vehicle!
