Last month saw the launch of the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), formed by the merger of VOSA (Vehicle and Operator Services Agency) and DSA (Driving Standards Agency). DVSA is now responsible for setting, testing and enforcing all driver and vehicle standards. This year, it will be responsible for regulating 28 million MOT tests and will carry out 137,000 roadside inspections. It will also issue 87,000 operator licences, and test and inspect 790,000 CVs. "By bringing testing and standards services into a single agency, we will make life easier for customers," states DVSA chief executive Alastair Peoples (left). "The two former agencies were already undertaking work to make driver and vehicle testing more flexible and convenient for customers," he adds.
