Bolting has already overtaken welding as the accepted construction method for curtain-sided trailer bodywork. Now there are signs that the trend may be spreading to trailer chassis. At last month's Amsterdam truck show, rrench trailer manufacturer Samro showed a 13.7-metre Euroliner-style tri-axle curtain-sider with all cross-bearers bolted to the main I-beams. The advantage is principally in the production process -assembly becomes a quick, unskilled job and chassis members can be painted in advance, easing the paintshop log-jams that are often blamed for late trailer delivery.
