In the two years since it was bought by Italy's Fiat group the French power plant company 2H Energy has enjoyed enough injection of capital to plan for doubling its present output of about 1,500 diesel generating sets a year. The increase is expected from the addition of a keenly-priced standard range in the 500-to-1,250 kilowatt bracket powered by Fiat's Iveco diesel engines. These are being supplemented by a host of smaller sets spanning 30 to 450 kilowatts using diesels (and some gas engines) from the big Italian factory of Iveco's Aifo division, of which 2H Energy is a member. The catalyst for the ambitious lift in output is completion of a new plant on the outskirts of Fecamp on the Normandy coast. It comprises a 17,000-square-metre factory on an 85,000-square-metre greenfield site where there are now 380 employees.
