New Units for Wellington

On 23 September Greater Wellington Regional Council (GWRC) advertised for - Expressions of Interest for the supply of 29 two car units for Wellington suburban services.The contract will require entry to service of the first unit in early 2010.The anticipated price is around NZD 160 million. Much of the funding for the trains is coming from central government, with ratepayers and commuters contributing about 20% of the cost.
