From 1800 on 7 October the major shut down to allow connection of the Southern Suburbs Railway to the rest of the system began. Transperth buses ran between Glendalough and Perth and trains between Clarkson and Leederville. Glendalough was the bus interchange because it has a bus station and at Leederville there is no room to queue buses. Additional tag-off facilities have been installed at Glendalough for passengers changing vehicles. No fares were to betaken on the buses. From 13 October Transperth buses worked between Stirling and Perth and normal fares applied.
