The New MetroRail (NMR) project budget has been increased by $50 million or 3.3% to $ 1.66 billion after a thorough review of the project. The closure of the whole Fremantle Line and the Joondalup line between Perth and Leederville will take place from 1800 on 7 October until the last service on 13 October during WA school holidays. Normal services are expected to resume on 14 October from the first trains. Joondalup Line trains will then terminate at Esplanade Station, stopping at William Street on the way. This closure period will allow for 8 hours of train running over the new facilities before services begin. Apart from the weekend work, private buses from several companies will provide the replacement service on the Fremantle Line, with Transperth buses running between Glendalough and Perth, with a limited service to Leederville; Glendalough has a small bus station which enables easier transfer for passengers to buses than at Leederville. The date for the start of the Mandurah service is suggested as 16 December.
