Melbourne - The Belgrave Line

The metropolitan line from Melbourne to Belgrave is a mostly uneventful run, progressing from the inner section, which has a branch to Alamein and three tracks to Box Hill, to the outer section which is double track to Ferntree Gully and receives a lesser service level.rnBut arguably the most interesting section is the final, five kilometre long single track section between Upper Ferntree Gully and Belgrave stations, which has a unique history; initially Upper Ferntree Gully was the terminus of the broad gauge system, with a narrow gauge line continuing to Gembrook.
