In what could only be described as a very significant strategic move undertaken by theTasmanian Department of Infrastructure.Energy and Resources and Metro Tasmania Pty Ltd, the State owned bus operator has taken over operation of several school bus services in Northern and Southern Tasmania, previously conducted under contract to the Department of Infrastructure by privately owned businesses.rnThe re-organisation of school services state-wide followed an enquiry into the provision of scheduled bus services throughout Tasmania and the implementation of new contracts between the Department of Infrastructure and bus operators.One of the objectives of this review was to upgrade the school bus fleet and reduce the average age of buses.
