On 18 November 2011 the NT reversed the previous decision regarding the Mandorah ferry service and reinstated the current operators, SeaCat as the preferred tenderer. No reason was given for the decision. Some weeks later the owners of SeaCat were complaining about the terms of the new contract. Then a surprise announcement was made on 20 December 2011 that the Sydney Company Fast Ferries had indeed won the contract, commencing on 1 January.
