Belmont Park station on the Armadale line closed on 13 October at the end of the winter racing season at Belmont Park Racecourse. Belmont Park is one of only two special event stations on the Perth system and is little used. Closure is for the development of the new station to serve the new sports Perth Stadium to be built on former Burswood Golf Course land. Shuttle vehicles will serve Racegoers from Burswood station until the new station is opened in 2018. All Thornlie line services previously stopped at Belmont Park on race days but there were few passengers for the racecourse.
