The Federal Budget presented on 14 May includes provision for the following funding: 1.$3b to Victoria for the Melbourne Metro north-south 9 km railway tunnel; this funding is conditional on the Victorian government matching the commitment with another $3 billion. The final $3 billion of the $9 billion project would need to come from the private sector. 2.$715m to Queensland for the Brisbane Cross River north-south 10 km railway tunnel; this also has a requirement for private sector funding $3$500m to WA for the Perth Light Rail program and the Perth Airport railway $4$31.5m to SA towards upgrading the public transport infrastructure in and around Tonsley Park, including duplicating a 600 m section of the Tonsley Line as well as upgrading Clovelly Park and Tonsley stations with a new park-and-ride facility and bus interchange.
