Among the newest machines in the heart of the digital copier market are the Document Centre 555 from Xerox, Stamford, CT, and the LaserJet 9000mfp from Hewlett-Packard, San Jose, CA. Released in June, the DC555 is a 55-copy/print/scan-per-minute model that tops the manufacturer's new 500 series platform. The LaserJet 9000mfp is a 50-copy/print/scan-per-minute machine. Released in March, it is HP's top-of-the-line multifunction device. While these machines have closely matched raw copy/print, the DC 555 and 9000mfp are markedly different machines with very different digital capture capabilities.
