摘要

DL-methionin has been investigated as inhibitor for corrosion of 304 stainless steel in l.OM sulphuric acid solution. The inhibition efficiency increases with the increase in concentration of the inhibitor and decreases with the increase in temperature. Critical current density and passivation current density values decrease with increasing concentration of tbe inhibitior. It is physically adsorbed on the surface of steel and acts as a mixed inhibitor. Langmuir's adsorption isotherm fits the experimental data for the studied compound. Adsorption of DL-methionin occurs through the nitrogen of the molecule. The inhibition imparts higher values of activation energy for the corrosion reaction.
