Thermal Choking in Three-Dimensional Scramjet Engine Models

摘要

The paper present numerical studies on supersonic unsteady flows with heat addition in three-dimensional scramjet engine models. The Van Leer FVS (flux vector splitting) scheme in generalized coordinates is employed in order to calculate inviscid flows with strong shock waves caused by thermal choking, while TVD scheme is used for viscous calcultions. Three-dimensional effects on transient characteristics, start and unstart phenomena induced by thermal choking and limit of equivalence ratio to avoid thermal choking are investigated. It is found that the boundary layer separation plays a decisive role in occurrence of thermal choking.
