Ore mineralogy, textures and trace-element distributions at Raibl carbonate-hosted lead-zinc deposit, Tarvisio, Italy, with reference to treatment

The Raibl lead-zinc deposit is located 7 km south of Tarvisio in northern Italy, near the border with Austria and former Yugoslavia (Fig. 1). Closed since 1991, Raibl mine had been worked since Roman times, and its stratigraphic, geotectonic and palaeogeographic features have been studied by a number of authors. In recent years the run-of-mine ore was processed by flotation in a concentrator close to the mine to produce sphalerite and galena concentrates. The present note reports textural and chemical studies of the lead-zinc mineralization and briefly considers their implication for mineral processing.
