摘要

During a large-break loss-of-coolant accident (LOCA) in the APR 1400, the thermal hydraulic phenomena in the reactor downcomer are expected to differ from those in the conventional cold leg injection system on account of the direct vessel injection (DVI) system. However, the DVI was found to result in excessive bypass of the emergency core coolant during the late phase of reflood so that the peak clad temperature in the core may approach the design limit. The THETA facility was built to explore improved methods to increase the coolant penetration to the reactor core. The current paper deals with one of the proposals, i.e. the direct vessel inclined injection (DVII).
