Dynamic strain aging during plastic deformation in Alloy 617 was observed over a wide temperature range. At elevated temperature, DRX becomes the main softening mechanism of plastic flow. Large grain size and a larger number of Σ ~n3 boundaries, obtained from Grain Boundary Engineering (GBE), may be required to increase the strength of Alloy 617 for very high temperature applications[5].
