We implemented a two-dimensional MMS benchmark suite for creating reference solutions with variable order of smoothness on Cartesian grids and for arbitrary spatial expansion orders. We employed this benchmark suite to compare the accuracy of two families of high-order S_N methods, and we illustrated it's potential use for code verification. The benefit of using MMS, instead of the n = 12, as reference solution can be quantified by noting that in the latter case the asymptotic feature of the curves evident in Figs. 1 and 2 would break down and may never even fully develop.
