Seismic Susceptibility in Global Nuclear Plant Siting

In the aftermath of the March 2011 Fukushima nuclear crisis, there has been much discussion regarding nuclear plant siting in the context of seismic risk. There is a worldwide need for new methods to evaluate the extent of earthquake risk at potential plant sites. In this work, we attempt to quantify that risk using arguments and calculations based purely on (1) geography and (2) seismic history.
