ECCS Water Management Initiative at Catawba and McGuire Nuclear Stations

The objectives of the ECCS Water Management Initiative (ECCS/WMI) are to maximize the amount of water available for emergency core cooling from the Refueling Water Storage Tank (RWST), to postpone and reduce the probability of transfer to containment sump recirculation, and to increase operator response time before the conditions for transfer to recirculation are satisfied.
