Adopted by the European Union in 2008, thernStrategic Energy Technology Plan (SET-Plan) is thernstrategic framework to accelerate the development andrndeployment of cost-effective low carbon technologies forrnthe period 2010-2020 in the perspective of marketrnimplementation by 2020 and 2050 [1]. Sustainablernnuclear fission is one of the low carbon energyrntechnologies prioritized by the SET-Plan.rnIn 2011, the European Commission published arnMaterials Roadmap enabling Low Carbon EnergyrnTechnologies. The objective is to complement and expandrnthe Technology Roadmaps [2] developed in the context ofrnthe SET-Plan as the basis for its implementation. It putsrnforward key materials research and innovation activitiesrnto advance energy technologies for the next 10 years.
