摘要

This transaction summarizes the application of the PIRT process early in the pre-conceptual design stage of an advanced reactor. In the context of the PIRT methodology, a new tool and approach was proposed and demonstrated here, which is specifically relevant to technology in the early stages of development. The case study discussed here was thermal hydraulic analysis of the PB-FHR, and the new graphical tool that was developed is PIRM. An important element that P1RM adds is the ranking of system and subsystem coupling. The PIRM results guide the modeling approach for the annular pebble bed reactor core, and the design of integral effects experiments for the natural circulation decay heat removal system.
