摘要

The Department of Energy (DOE) has traditionally utilized a primarily deterministic method, to evaluate the hazards at its non-reactor nuclear facilities and to identify and establish safety controls. DOE has developed a draft probabilistic risk assessment (PRA) standard to support use of PRA at DOE. Eased upon information gathered at several workshops and review of industry practice, along with the insights received as comments on the draft standard, DOE is developing a final Standard to support use of PRAs for nuclear safety applications at DOE. The DOE Standard builds upon, and utilizes, government and industry Standards; however, it incorporates unique features to support use of PRA at DOE non-reactor nuclear facilities-in a controlled manner-as experience is developed with this tool in DOE facilities.
