摘要

A hybrid methodology and corresponding AIMS tool have been developed to determine the current at the detector window for a source-detector assembly scanning a cargo container. For a database generated based on a specific model, the performance of the AIMS tool has been estimated as compared to reference MCNP5 Monte Carlo calculations. It is concluded that AIMS predictions are accurate for cases where the HEU sphere is not directly between the source and detector or near the container wall. For these cases, it is necessary to extend the database by determining response coefficients and adjoint functions corresponding to the true model to increase the method's accuracy. The AIMS tool also showed several orders of magnitude speedup over calculations done entirely in MCNP5.
