Development of the Graduate Certificate Program in Nuclear Security and Safeguards at UNLV

The 12-credit graduate certificate program in nuclear safeguards and security has been developed in UNLV. The program is designed to enhance student's knowledge and expertise in this specific field of nuclear engineering. It will help to educate and inspire a new cadre of nuclear security and safeguards professionals, meeting the needs of the nuclear industry. It will develop human resources to address current workforce shortfalls in the field. To support the recruitment, education, training, and retention of the next generation of nuclear engineers, the pipeline from the undergraduate to graduate education and to future employment is currently under development. The program is interdisciplinary, naturally fitting in the University's security science and engineering thrust and the Collaborative Research and Education initiative.
