The Transient Reactor Test Facility (TREAT) is an experimental reactor located at Idaho National Laboratory (INL) designed to produce high neutron flux transients for investigation of the transient-induced behaviors of reactor fuels and their interactions with other materials and structures. TREAT started operation in February 1959 and performed hundreds of experiments until 1994 when it was placed on non-operational standby.
