摘要

Fretting wear is a type of wear that occurs when the two contact bodies undergo small oscillations [1]. Fretting is a complex phenomenon including friction, wear, crack initiation and propagation, and plastic deformation causing degradation of the contacting surfaces [2, 3]. When the normal load is high enough and the displacement amplitude is small, the center part of the contact sticks and no relative sliding occurs. Many factors influence fretting wear these include normal load, displacement amplitude, frequency of motion, lubrication status, surface treatment, temperature, etc. thus it is of critical importance to have a complete understanding of the phenomenon [4,5,6].
