The design of the Component Transfer Hatch has been approached from an integrated perspective to account for the different needs inherent to the system. The doors, which are each in charge of providing the required shielding protection, have been thoroughly designed to enhance the shielding performance of the system, for instance by implementing several features such as doglegs, lead plugs or lead wool filled parts.
