摘要

Salt compatibility cannot be adequately evaluated in an isothermal experiment because the dissolution reaction product can slow the reaction. Flowing experiments in a thermal gradient are needed for a true assessment and thermal convection loops are a less expensive method for conducting such an evaluation. Initial flowing experiments evaluating 316H in FLiNaK and FLiBe are being conducted as a first step in evaluating the use of this alloy. Additional experiments are needed to evaluate the use of salt additives, determine reaction kinetics and assess the importance of dissimilar material interactions.
