Annular centrifugal extractors (ACEs), also known as centrifugal contactors or annular centrifugal contactors, are one of the most effective devices for liquid-liquid extractive separations. ACEs, consisting of a high-speed rotor positioned inside a stator, accomplish mixing and separation of phases in very short residence times. Additional advantages of ACEs include rapid approach to equilibrium and steady state, and high mass transfer rates in a compact volume [ 1 ].
