ENDF/B-Ⅷ.0: The 8th Major Release of the ENDF/B Library

The release of ENDF/B-Ⅷ.0 in February of this year marks the 50th anniversary of the initial release of the ENDF/B library The original CSEWG members named the initial release "ENDF/B". not considering that there would be eight major releases and many more minor releases in the subsequent 50 years. In retrospect, it is no surprise: ENDF/B is the United States' general purpose data library for nuclear applications and is used in nearly all major particle transport codes. According to Google Scholar . the ENDF/B-Ⅶ. 1 reference paper has been cited in literature more than 1500 times at the time of writing of this contribution. The reference paper for the prior major release, ENDF/B-Ⅶ.0 , was cited more than 2000 times. We expect ENDF/B-Ⅶ.0 to have a similar impact.
