THE CUMBRES & TDLTEC SCENIC will host several events during 2020 to celebrate its 50th anniversary of operation and joint ownership by the states of Colorado and New Mexico. Here's what's planned: • Opening Day of the 50th season, May 23. Special trains from both ends of the railroad. • 50th anniversary of the signing of the joint agreement, July 1, 2020: A special ceremony at Osier, Colo., will be held 50 years after the historic July 1,1970, agreement between Colorado and New Mexico was signed. Dignitaries from both states will be invited to preside at this event in Osier, the midpoint on the daily train.
