US-Peru free trade agreement

The United States-Peru Free Trade Agreement, known as the US-Peru Trade Promotion Agreement, started to be negotiated within the framework of ALCA, a project for achieving a free trade area for the Americas involving 34 American countries, which began in 1994. After several cabinet meetings held in Miami in 2003, these negotiations were adjourned as Brazil and Argentina did not agree with certain Agriculture and Intellectual Property issues. Before this suspension, negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement were initiated.
