Santander names Tapia deputy CEO, Asia-Pacific

Banco Santander has appointed Jorge Tapia as its new deputy CEO for the Asia-Pacific region, a Santander spokesperson told Trade Finance. Tapia was previously Santander's global head of trade, export and commodity finance, based in Madrid. Now located in Shanghai, Tapia's new role was to become effective late last month. He will report to Santander's CEO of Asia-Pacific, Juan Manuel San Roman. A bank spokesperson told Trade Finance: "Jorge Tapia's knowledge of the international markets and trade finance would allow Santander to capture the growing flows between Asia and Latin America, and maximise the value of the strategic partnership with Bank of Shanghai. His previous experience in different areas within Santander would allow both institutions to share business knowledge and be able to embark on a variety of transformation projects."
