Industry-government partnerships the key,says minister

The rail transport industry has some very strategic roles to play and many of these roles are achievable through industry and government partnerships, WA Transport Minister Simon O'Brien said. "One example of a partnership and ongoing cooperation is the leasing of the WA freight rail network to WestNet," the Minister said. "On November 18 we announced a $178.8 million State Government funded package to upgrade the grain freight network. "Westnet has also invested more than $8.25 million and more than 1200km of railway through the Wheat belt regions will be upgraded at a cost of $187.9 million."
