摘要

This is yet another of magazine Le Train's "bookazines", this time about the cross-country route between Strasbourg and Lyon - both the classic line, and the LGV Rhin-Rhone high speed line, over which most trains now run. The book starts with a history of the 500 km route, which took a quarter of a century to come together as the assembly of many shorter sections to form a whole. This section is illustrated with very interesting historic black-and-white photos of the period, with Strasbourg looking almost unrecognisable, although Selestat and Colmar have changed much less. A second chapter covers changes which occurred over the years, including electrification (again in sections) and has further historic photos and photos of the evolution of traction and rolling stock; a four page insert looks at the spectacular viaduct at Dannemarie, near Belfort, which was severely damaged in both world wars then rebuilt.
