Stockholm track refurbishment

Stockholm is growing fast and this is placing ever higher demands on adapting and refurbishing its railway network. Since July 2017 the opening of Citybanan has halved train movements using Stockholm Central. The section of line between Stockholm Central and Stockholm's Sodra (south), the so-called Getingmidjan (wasp's waist, see TR EU 128, August 2006), is only 2 km long but is still one of the busiest double-track lines in the country, used by nearly all long-distance trains to and from southern and western Sweden.
