TCDD orders ten more Velaros

On 13 April Turkish Railways (TCDD) awarded Siemens a contract worth around €340 million for ten 10-car Class HT 80000 Velaro 300 km/h EMUs. The contract includes maintenance, repair and cleaning of the trains for a three-year period, together with the provision of a Velaro simulator for driver training. Construction is to take place at Siemens's Krefeld works, with deliveries starting at the end of 2019. No date has yet been fixed for the delivery of the last train of the batch. The latest order will take TCDD's Velaro fleet to 17 trains, the first seven being 8-car sets.
